Office COVID-19 Procedures
(updated May 2, 2020)
Currently, you can schedule your appointment online by clicking here, or you can call the office at 775-787-3939.
New Policies and Procedures For Patients:
Prior to coming for your appointment, please print and complete all patient paperwork paperwork (click here for Patient Paperwork). If you forget your paperwork or are otherwise unable to printit and bring it with you, please bring your own pen and, if you need it, a firm writing surface, such as a clipboard or a hardcover book (shared office clipboards will not be available for sanitary reasons).
All patients must bring their own face covering and use it while in the office. This can be a mask, bandana, scarf or something similar.
On the day of your appointment, please take your own temperature. If you don’t have access to a thermometer, or if you forget to take your temperature that day, we can do this for you outside of the office with a non-contact thermometer. All staff and patients will be checked prior to entering the office. If you have an elevated temperature or if you know that you are sick or showing Covid-19 symptoms, reschedule your appointment.
When you arrive at the office, please wait in your car and call us at 775-787-3939 for details on how to proceed. We are doing everything we can to keep you and our staff safe. We want to minimize the time you spend inside the office. You will be instructed where to wash your hands immediately upon entering the office. Try not to touch your face or mask while you are inside the office.
Only you should come into the office. No companions are allowed except for one needed caregiver or an adult with a child patient.
We want to maintain social distancing while you are in the office so we have reduced the number of patients we see each day. We have eliminated shared pens, clipboards, magazines, and brochures and have reduced paperwork transfer as much as possible. Senior patients and/or those with co-morbidities should carefully decide when they should come in for eye care.
When you are trying on eyeglass frames, put all frames that you touch into a provided black tray. Our staff will then disinfect them prior to returning them to the frame boards.
New Cleaning Procedures
We have instituted new, intensive cleaning and disinfecting protocols recommended by the CDC. Staff will be masked. We are cleaning and disinfecting office surfaces multiple times a day and all equipment is disinfected between each and every patient. Staff is also trying to increase their distance both from each other and from patients as much as possible.
We have added glass barriers around the reception and check out areas. We have also added breath shields where practical and changed how we operate some tests and procedures to minimize exposure.
